      Casa Vitae Hotel is a renovated old Venetian castle house. It was built in the late 16th / early 17th century and there is speculation that it was the residence of a nobleman - maybe even the Venetian govenor. It is located in the old city of Rethynmo - Unique in its style, Casa Vitae Hotel is one of the very few detached buildings in the old town with a Venetian courtyard for the guests to relax and enjoy their breakfast or drinks. The eight fully renovated luxurious suites maintain the historical Venetian style of their epoch and are airy and spacious, all facing to the hotels courtyard. In this hotel, history tends to combine the Venetian with the Ottoman architecture. Yet, the hotel is fully equipped to provide the visitor with an ambient environment that merges the romance of the Venetian era together with the picturesqueness of Crete and the comforts of our modern times Those who like to travel back in time and are looking for something special, will make the most of their stay in Rethymno in this historical live-in museum.\n\nLocation\nCasa Vitae is located in the heart of the old city of Rethynmo, just 3 minutes walk from the museums, the Venetian fortress, the Venetian harbor, the shops, the restaurants, the cafes, and all other entertainment venues (and only about 1km from the nearest beach). Based amongst the beautiful historic maze of streets in the old city the hotel is not allowed to be accessed by car during the period 01/03 30/11 however parking is nearby. If you are planning to arrive after 21 00 please contact the property at least 48 hours prior to arrival to receive directions and late check-in instructions.\n\nDistance\n75 kms to the airport (heraklion international airport)\n65 kms to the airport (chania international airport)\n5 minute walk to the nearest bus stop\n\nRooms\nThe rooms are in the annex building accross the main hotel, and as this is an old medieval mansion they are all adorned by stone arches, stone masonry walls and all the architectural elements of a house of that time. There are variations in size, each room with a unique character, distinctive furniture and decorative items. They also have access to a small quiet patio.\n\nRestaurant\nA unique Venetian Courtyard for quests to relax and enjoy a drink from our variety of drinks listed in our cafe bar catalogue. Light snacks are also served.\n\nExterior\nThe mansion is a 3 storey stone pink coloured building, accessed via a passageway covered in beautiful hand painted period murals. The patio is a highlight, with a lovely pond and a stone fountain, remains from the first era of the house and of considerable historical value. A modern staircase sided by tall stone pillars leads to the upper floors. The annex building is next to the hotel and shares most of the medieval characteristics of the main building.\n\nLobby\nThe small reception is at the lower ground vaults, whose original stone arches are still visible.
